The vast majority of the world’s water withdrawals (about 70 percent) are used for growing food and animal feed, so the food we put on our plates has a huge impact. Certain foods require a lot more water than others. Having a better understanding of how much water goes into producing various foods can help us make better food choices for the environment. The How Much Water Do You Eat? Activity was developed by the California Academy of Sciences based on published data from the Water Footprint Network. Text on the activity cards is presented in English, Spanish, and traditional Chinese.
